Your First Visit
We know the first visit to any doctor can be a little uncomfortable. When you meet with one of our doctors you will sit down and go through a consultation with the doctor to find out the specifics of your needs. The consultation process gives you and the doctor an opportunity to understand your condition and how chiropractic will be able to help.
If you and the chiropractor decide your problem is one that chiropractic may be able to help, the chiropractor will then work with you through the exam process. The exam consists of a thorough orthopedic, neurological and chiropractic examination. The orthopedic exam looks at the motion of your joints and overall mechanical function. The neurological assessment looks at reflexes and muscle strength to assess your overall neurological health. The chiropractic assessment looks at motion of the joints and the spine specifically to assess for subluxation. This assessment for subluxation is done mainly by hand and the doctor can feel areas of your spine that are involved with subluxation problems. Spinal position, curvatures and muscle tone can also be examined as it relates to possible spinal subluxation.
Once the assessment of your health is complete the doctor will work with this important information so they can make a more accurate determination of your health care needs. The results of all exams will be reviewed with you and if x-rays were taken they will be explained to you in detail.
